The Zaria Chapter of the Senator Uba Sani Support Group (SUSSG), led by Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, joined other political groups to welcome prominent politicians and supporters who reportedly defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State. The event took place at the Old Eid Ground in Zaria, where Governor Uba Sani received the defectors ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the organisers, more than 200,000 ADC card-carrying members and their supporters joined the APC at the gathering. Several political figures were also present, including Hon. Bashir Sa’idu, Senator Audu Kwari, Hon. Mohd. Sani Bello Mainan Zazzau, Hon. Jafaru Sani, Hon. Mukhtar Hazo, Hon. Bala Alwa’u, Hon. Nasiru Abdulahi Maikano, Hon. Lawal Buba and Hon. Ephraim Iliyasu, among others.

The reported defections represent a political development in Kaduna State as parties and support groups prepare for the 2027 general elections. The new APC members reportedly pledged their support for Governor Uba Sani and President Bola Tinubu. SUSSG Zaria’s participation formed part of efforts by groups backing the governor to welcome the incoming members and strengthen political mobilisation in the area.

Separately, Governor Uba Sani has commenced the payment of approximately ₦2 billion in property compensation to 865 households affected by township road projects in Zaria, Sabon Gari, Giwa and Shika. The governor said the payments reflect his administration’s commitment to fairness and inclusive development, particularly for residents whose properties were affected by infrastructure projects.

Uba Sani also stated that his administration had paid approximately ₦7 billion in compensation to 4,865 households across Kaduna State’s three senatorial zones since May 2023. The payments form part of the government’s efforts to compensate residents affected by public infrastructure development. The administration continues to present road construction and compensation payments as part of its wider development agenda under the #WorkingForKaduna initiative.
