JONATHAN TO UNVEIL TRICYCLE FACTORY AND LOCALLY ASSEMBLED PRODUCTS IN ABUJA

Former President Goodluck Jonathan is expected to unveil a tricycle assembly factory and its products in Abuja on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, in an initiative aimed at making the transportation of goods and people more affordable for Nigerians.

The facility, operated by Zeetin Technologies, is located in the Idu Industrial Area of the Federal Capital Territory. It assembles the VZ150 and VZ200 tricycles in technical partnership with VIAR Motor Indonesia, a company with more than 30 years of experience in three-wheeler engineering.

The management of Zeetin Technologies disclosed that Jonathan had been selected to chair the occasion and officially unveil the products.

In a statement signed by the company’s chairman, Barrister Robert Azibaola, the management explained that the initiative was established to support small businesses by providing locally assembled tricycles for transporting goods and passengers.

According to the company, the tricycles are designed to meet the transportation needs of market traders, farmers moving agricultural produce to urban markets, artisans, distributors handling last-mile deliveries and commercial commuters.

Azibaola said the decision to assemble the vehicles in Nigeria was intended to reduce transportation costs while strengthening domestic manufacturing and creating employment opportunities.

He explained that the economic benefits of the project would extend beyond vehicle assembly to include skills development, technology transfer and the growth of businesses supporting the manufacturing industry.

The company disclosed that Nigerian technicians had received training at VIAR’s facility in Semarang, Indonesia, and were now applying their skills at the Abuja plant. Other employment opportunities include positions in quality control, production planning, sales and after-sales services.

The initiative is also expected to encourage the development of a wider network of dealerships, repair workshops and spare-parts businesses across the country.

The management further revealed that the first units assembled at the facility would be handed over to their owners during the unveiling ceremony.

As part of its long-term plans, Zeetin Technologies intends to increase the use of locally sourced components in its production process. The company also plans to introduce compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered and electric tricycle models in the future.

The management described the project as an effort to strengthen Nigeria’s industrial capacity by expanding local production and creating opportunities for indigenous workers, suppliers and businesses.

It added that establishing the facility in Abuja’s industrial district would help provide practical transportation solutions for traders, farmers, artisans and commuters while contributing to the growth of Nigeria’s manufacturing sector.
