Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has directed his supporters to vote for candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in all elective positions during the 2027 general elections.
The directive was disclosed by Hafsat Baba, the party’s National Vice Chairman for the North-West, during a meeting of political support groups loyal to the former governor in Kaduna State.

Baba said El-Rufai had instructed his supporters to remain united, peaceful and law-abiding while working towards securing electoral victories for the ADC.
She explained that the directive covers all major elections, including the presidential, governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly contests across Kaduna State’s 23 local government areas.
According to her, the meeting was organised to bring together the different support groups, strengthen their relationship and establish a coordinated mobilisation strategy ahead of the 2027 elections.
She added that the coalition planned to create a comprehensive database of El-Rufai’s supporters across the state to improve communication, coordination and regular engagement among members.

ADC SUPPORTERS PLAN GRASSROOTS MOBILISATION
Baba said the former governor’s supporters were committed to preserving what they described as his developmental legacy, particularly in education, healthcare and empowerment.
She maintained that the various groups needed to work together to translate their political support into electoral strength.
The ADC chieftain also expressed confidence that the former governor’s political influence remained significant across Kaduna State.
PARTY CHIEFTAIN RAISES CONCERN OVER INSECURITY
Beyond preparations for the elections, Baba expressed concern about the security situation in parts of Kaduna State.

She specifically mentioned Birnin Gwari, Giwa and Millennium City as areas requiring greater attention from security agencies.
She called on the authorities to strengthen security operations and take more effective measures to protect residents and their property.
Baba warned that residents should not continue to face threats of kidnapping while carrying out legitimate activities.
BABA ALLEGES ARREST OF OVER 30 EL-RUFAI SUPPORTERS
The ADC official also alleged that more than 30 supporters of El-Rufai had been arrested approximately two weeks before the coalition meeting.
She questioned what she described as repeated arrests involving individuals associated with the former governor and called on security agencies to remain impartial.

Baba urged security officials to discharge their responsibilities professionally and in accordance with the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution.
She also expressed hope that El-Rufai would soon reunite with his supporters.
EL-RUFAI’S ALLY DISMISSES CLAIMS OF DECLINING POLITICAL INFLUENCE
Another associate of the former governor, Ibrahim Hussaini, dismissed suggestions that El-Rufai had lost his political support base.
Hussaini maintained that the former governor continued to enjoy considerable backing in Kaduna State and other parts of northern Nigeria.
He described El-Rufai’s present circumstances as a test and expressed optimism that the situation could ultimately strengthen his political standing.
He further urged supporters to remain committed and united, arguing that recent political developments had revealed those whose loyalty to the former governor was uncertain.
El-Rufai governed Kaduna State from 2015 to 2023. His latest political directive signals an effort to consolidate his support base under the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
