The Abdul Samad Rabiu Initiative for Africa (ASR Africa) has donated a newly constructed administrative building worth ₦250 million to the College of Health Sciences at Usmanu Danfodiyo University (UDUS), Sokoto State.
The facility, named the Abdul Samad Rabiu Administrative Block, was officially commissioned and handed over to the university during a ceremony held at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) complex in Sokoto.
The donation is part of ASR Africa’s Tertiary Education Grants Scheme, which supports infrastructure development in Nigerian universities and other higher education institutions across Africa.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bashir Garba, described the project as a significant intervention that would strengthen the institution’s administrative and academic operations.
Garba commended ASR Africa’s Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, for his continued contributions to education and other areas of social development.
He said the new facility had already played an important role in strengthening the university’s infrastructure during an accreditation exercise conducted by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
The Vice-Chancellor assured ASR Africa that the university would ensure the effective utilisation and maintenance of the building.

In his remarks, ASR Africa’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ubon Udoh, said the project was among 30 grants awarded to 30 universities across Nigeria under the organisation’s tertiary education intervention.
He noted that Usmanu Danfodiyo University performed strongly during the initiative’s assessment process, adding that ASR Africa was pleased to partner with the institution.
Udoh said the donation reflected the organisation’s commitment to supporting sustainable development through investments in education, healthcare and social development.

The newly commissioned administrative block comprises 20 staff offices, including the departmental head’s office, a panel room, staff conveniences and storage facilities.
Located within the UDUTH complex, the building is expected to provide improved working spaces for academic and administrative personnel while supporting teaching and research activities.
ASR Africa was established in 2021 by BUA Group Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, to develop sustainable, locally driven solutions to challenges affecting healthcare, education and social development across Africa.
