Abdul Rahman Ogunde Leads Renewed Hope Restoration Project Engagement in Benue State
– Federal Collaboration with Benue Government Targets Displacement, Food Security, and Agricultural Revival
By HeadlineNews.News – May 2025
In a significant move to bridge humanitarian response with agricultural transformation, Abdul Rahman Ogunde, Project Lead of the Renewed Hope Restoration Project (RHRP), has led a high-level delegation to Benue State, initiating a strategic collaboration between the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) and the Benue State Government, in partnership with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA).
The mission marks a critical first step in deploying the RHRP’s national framework to tackle displacement, rebuild livelihoods, and promote food security. Ogunde was received by the team constituted by His Excellency, the Governor of Benue State, including the Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Kunde, the Managing Director/CEO of the Benue State Agricultural Development Company, and the Governor’s Technical Adviser on Agriculture.

A Multi-Sectoral Response to a National Crisis
With over 2.3 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) across Nigeria and Benue hosting a disproportionate number—estimated at 800,000—the RHRP represents a bold intervention to restore dignity, productivity, and resilience to conflict-affected communities.

Ogunde explained that the project is designed to be “an integrated engine of recovery” through agricultural development, vocational empowerment, and strategic land resettlement.
“Benue is the heartbeat of Nigerian agriculture. If we restore Benue, we begin to restore Nigeria,” Ogunde stated during the meeting. “This partnership shows that national healing begins with food, dignity, and the return of displaced citizens to fertile lands that once fed the nation.”

From Relief to Results: The Role of NALDA and State Governments
With NALDA’s expertise in mechanized agriculture and NCFRMI’s mandate for protection and reintegration, the partnership is designed to scale up productivity while simultaneously reducing vulnerability.

Key deliverables discussed include:
Allocation of fertile lands for displaced populations.
Deployment of extension services, seeds, and farm infrastructure.
Establishment of agro-enterprise hubs and food processing units.
Monitoring frameworks for measuring resettlement success.
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has warned that over 26.5 million Nigerians could face food insecurity in 2025—a crisis that makes this intervention not just timely but vital.

A Pathway for National Replication
The engagement in Benue is expected to serve as a template for implementation in other conflict-prone regions, particularly in the North East and Middle Belt, where displacement, unemployment, and underutilized land continue to intersect.
As Ogunde and his technical team concluded their visit, stakeholders affirmed their commitment to the project’s goals, pledging coordinated action to ensure that the RHRP becomes a symbol of Nigeria’s capacity to rise from adversity through strategic development.
It is imperative that this groundbreaking project aligns with the election promises of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and effectively contributes to the Federal Government’s recently declared state of emergency on food security. Headlinenews.news remains committed to tracking every milestone of this vital initiative — a strategic partnership between NALDA and the NCFRMI, under the leadership of Abdul Rahman Ogunde.
This intervention symbolizes a bold step in fulfilling the Renewed Hope agenda and reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to pro-people, progressive governance. As part of this national effort, Fraser Consulting has played a pivotal role as a professional consultancy firm, bringing strategic value, perception management, and technical input to ensure the project’s goals are achieved and widely appreciated.
In support of food security, the Eden Irrigation Systems — a proven solution that allows smallholder farmers to cultivate crops year-round without reliance on rainfall — has been adopted as a core component of all Renewed Hope agricultural projects. This system has demonstrated the potential to increase yields by up to 300% on small plots of land, making it ideal for Nigeria’s rural farming communities.
Complementing this is the innovative Etrac electric tractor — a special line of quality, energy-efficient tractors now being assembled in Nigeria. Designed to enhance mechanized farming for small and medium-scale growers, the Etrac tractors are a practical tool to boost productivity, speed, and agricultural efficiency. Fraser Consulting proudly represents these brands in Nigeria, further positioning local farmers to benefit from cutting-edge agricultural technology.
Headlinenews.news will continue to promote and report on the transformative efforts of the Federal Government and its Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), so that all Nigerians can recognize and appreciate the real impact of governance under the APC-led administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
