The Abia State government has refuted claims that Governor Alex Otti defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The rumors stemmed from a photo of Otti visiting Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, shared by some individuals last week, who suggested the visit was part of Otti’s plan to join the APC following Mbah’s recent defection.
On Monday, Abia State Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, dismissed the reports as “fabrication by political propagandists.” He stated, “Governor Alex Otti remains a committed and proud member of the Labour Party, the platform under which the people of Abia overwhelmingly elected him. His focus is to rebuild Abia, restore accountability, and deliver democratic dividends to every citizen.” Kanu urged the public to disregard the rumors as baseless propaganda.
