Account for ₦54 Billion, Stop Using Nnamdi Kanu to Gain Publicity — APC Chieftain Takes Aim at Gov. Otti

Prince Paul Ikonne, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, has challenged Governor Alex Otti to stop invoking Nnamdi Kanu’s name for political advantage. He urged the governor to instead focus on delivering transparency and tangible results to the people of Abia.

In a statement issued from Abuja by his Chief Press Secretary, Ujo Justice, Ikonne criticized Otti’s recent remarks about Kanu as a desperate ploy to divert attention from his administration’s weaknesses.

Ikonne expressed concern that Minister Otti is using sensitive national issues to distract Abians from lackluster performance and “questionable financial practices.” He specifically raised questions about two major projects under Otti’s administration: the alleged ₦54 billion “Smart School” and ₦6 billion “Recreational Centre”, claiming they remain unseen and unverified.

He demanded that the governor disclose where these projects are located and allow the media to inspect them directly. He lambasted the fact that despite a recent public unveiling of rehabilitated roads, there was no sign these projects had been commissioned.

On the matter of Nnamdi Kanu, Ikonne slammed what he called hypocrisy: “For over two years in office, Governor Otti never visited, never intervened, never showed concern about Kanu’s situation. Now, as his government’s credibility is faltering, he all of a sudden remembers Kanu.”

According to reports from Daily Post, Governor Otti recently claimed that Kanu, who was rearrested in Kenya in June 2021, “will soon regain freedom.”
