The Nigeria Police Force on Thursday celebrated one of its finest as Oyin Francess Zarat Adegbite was officially decorated as Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), a proud milestone in a distinguished law enforcement career spanning over two decades.
In an emotionally charged ceremony, ACP Adegbite expressed deep gratitude to the Almighty God, describing Him as the author of her destiny, and extended heartfelt appreciation to the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, and the Police Service Commission for the honour of her elevation.
‘A Call to Greater Responsibility’
Addressing the gathering, ACP Adegbite described her promotion not merely as a reward for past service but as a renewed call to duty, deeper commitment, and unwavering loyalty to the ideals of the Nigeria Police Force.
She paid special tribute to AIG Musa Yusuf Garba, Assistant Inspector-General in charge of the Maritime Police Command, and AIG Adegoke Mustapha Fayoade, mni, Psc, for their mentorship and steadfast support throughout her career.
Her gratitude extended to senior officers, colleagues, and subordinates who have contributed to her professional growth. She emphasised the collective nature of policing, reminding all present that the badge is a symbol of honour, courage, fairness, and accountability.
Family and Moral Foundations
Acknowledging the sacrifices of her loved ones, ACP Adegbite thanked her husband, Alhají Dr. Olaniyi Adegbite, and her mother, Mrs. B.E. Nemisinghan, for their prayers, sacrifices, and unwavering support over the years.
She also expressed appreciation to Lions International District 404B4 Nigeria and her alma maters, Baptist Girls High School, Agbor and Delta State University, Abraka — noting that both academic and moral foundations played a crucial role in shaping her life and career.
To younger officers, ACP Adegbite gave a charge to remain dedicated, honest, and consistent, assuring them that such qualities are always recognised and rewarded in the long run.
