Air Peace, Nigeria’s largest airline, has taken delivery of its fourth Boeing 777 aircraft, marking a significant step in its global expansion strategy. The new wide-body jet is expected to power the launch of fresh intercontinental routes across Europe, South America, and the Caribbean.
In a statement released on Saturday, the airline announced that the Boeing 777-200ER, with registration number 5N-CEG, landed at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 3:32 p.m. from Teruel, Spain. The arrival was celebrated with a traditional water-cannon salute and a reception led by Chairman Allen Onyema, Executive Director Obinna Onyema, Chief Operating Officer Oluwatoyin Olajide, and other key members of the Air Peace management team.
According to spokesperson Efe Osifo-Whiskey, the acquisition underscores Air Peace’s commitment to global connectivity and delivering a world-class travel experience for Nigerians.
The aircraft features 312 seats — 26 in Business Class and 286 in Economy — offering state-of-the-art cabin comfort. Business Class travelers will enjoy private, ambient seating, while Economy passengers can look forward to generous legroom and enhanced in-flight service.
Speaking at the event, Onyema described the milestone as a “pivotal moment” in the airline’s growth journey. He revealed that the aircraft would be deployed in the next two months for inaugural long-haul flights from Abuja to London Heathrow and Gatwick. Plans are also underway to open routes to key European cities, direct flights to São Paulo, Brazil, and additional Caribbean destinations, expanding on Air Peace’s existing operations to Antigua and Barbuda and St. Kitts and Nevis.
Onyema reiterated the airline’s mission to make international travel more affordable and accessible, stating that Air Peace is determined to challenge the high fares imposed by foreign carriers and provide Nigerians with fair and competitive rates.
He also emphasized the importance of upgrading Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure, calling for an efficient hub system to boost regional and international connectivity.
Expressing gratitude, Onyema thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for policies supporting indigenous airlines and praised Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Senator Festus Keyamo, for implementing measures that position Nigerian carriers to compete globally.
With this latest acquisition, Air Peace continues to solidify its leadership in the Nigerian aviation industry, offering travelers more options, competitive pricing, and enhanced service for international routes.
