Alex Iwobi delivered a standout performance to drive Fulham to an emphatic 3–1 away win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
The Nigerian midfielder was central to everything Fulham did well, combining creativity and composure in a dominant second-half showing that left the hosts struggling to cope.

After a cagey first half ended without goals, Iwobi broke the deadlock in the 54th minute with a perfectly weighted cross that Raul Jimenez converted to put Fulham ahead. He then put the finishing touch on a memorable display late on, slipping into the area in the 85th minute to calmly score Fulham’s third goal and quieten the home supporters.

Fulham’s success also owed much to another Nigerian international, Calvin Bassey, who was immense at the back. The defender produced a commanding display, leading the match in clearances and interceptions as he consistently denied Sunderland attacking space.
Bassey’s strength and reading of the game ensured the home side were largely contained, with their only breakthrough coming from a penalty converted by Enzo Le Fée. For much of the contest, Fulham’s defence remained firmly in control.

The win represents a notable achievement for the London club, as they completed their first league double over Sunderland in more than 20 years.
For Iwobi, the display followed closely on the heels of his 100th appearance for Fulham, marking the milestone in style. With 15 goal contributions already recorded this season, his influence has been key in pushing Marco Silva’s team up to 10th place in the Premier League standings.

As the match ended, Fulham’s travelling fans celebrated a result that injects fresh momentum into their campaign heading into the spring.
With his current numbers and consistency, this season is shaping up to be one of the finest of Alex Iwobi’s career.
