Amid Growing UK-Nigeria Trade Ties, The Body Shop Launches Its First Store in Lagos

The Body Shop has launched a new store in Lagos at Ikeja City Mall, following its Abuja debut in March and a national e-commerce site. The expansion signals rising investor confidence in Nigeria and strengthens bilateral trade with the UK, which reached £7.9 billion, making Nigeria the UK’s second-largest African trading partner and top export market.

British Deputy High Commissioner Jonny Baxter hailed the move as a symbol of deepening ties, spotlighting franchise leader Shalom Lloyd MBE, a British-Nigerian entrepreneur focused on skincare, healthcare, and women’s empowerment. Body Shop CEO Mike Jatania called Lagos a key hub for connecting with consumers who value ethical beauty, while Lloyd emphasized creating opportunities in the vibrant city.

The store, employing over 20 people, offers full product ranges like Spa of the World, shea, tea tree, and aloe lines sourced via community fair trade. In-store teams provide consultations, skincare advice, and treatments.

The brand’s African roots trace to founder Dame Anita Roddick, with ongoing partnerships in Kenya, Ghana, and Rwanda for sustainable, women-empowering supply chains. Founded in 1976 in Brighton, The Body Shop pioneers ethical, natural-ingredient beauty products globally.
