Anambra Governorship Election: INEC Extends PVC Collection Deadline

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced an extension of the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection period in Anambra State ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship election.

The extension comes in response to numerous appeals from citizens and stakeholders who requested additional time to collect their voter cards.

In a statement released on Monday by Victoria Eta-Messi, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, the commission confirmed that the exercise, initially scheduled to end on Sunday, October 26, 2025, will now continue from Wednesday, October 29 to Sunday, November 2, 2025.

“The decision was reached during a Commission meeting held on Monday, October 27, 2025, after receiving several appeals from citizens and stakeholders seeking more time for eligible voters to obtain their PVCs,” the statement read.

The extended exercise will cover individuals who registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in the state. INEC urged eligible voters who have not yet collected their PVCs to visit the designated collection centres across the 326 registration areas (wards) in Anambra State.

Eta-Messi emphasized that PVC collection must be done in person, noting that proxy collection is strictly prohibited.

INEC also expressed appreciation for the cooperation and enthusiasm shown by residents of Anambra State and encouraged all eligible voters to use the extended window to prepare for the upcoming election.

Earlier in the day, the commission declared that Anambra State is fully prepared for the November 8 poll following a comprehensive readiness assessment conducted by a high-level team from its headquarters, led by National Commissioner for Election Planning and Monitoring, Prof. Rhoda Gumus, alongside other senior officials.

The delegation inspected logistics, facilities, and security arrangements to ensure a smooth conduct of the governorship election.
