The Electoral Hub, an initiative of IRIAD, has praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for significant improvements in professionalism, transparency, and logistics during the 2025 Anambra governorship election.

In a statement on Wednesday, the organisation’s Director, Princess Hamman-Obels, said the election showed notable progress, especially in result transmission, logistics coordination, and inclusivity.
As an accredited observer, the group monitored the entire process and reported that INEC adhered strictly to its election timetable. Voting began on time at most polling units, and the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) achieved a 99.62% result upload to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) by 9:15 a.m. on November 9.

Hamman-Obels commended INEC officials and NYSC ad-hoc staff for professionalism and transparency, noting that results were properly collated up to the state level, where Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of APGA won with 422,664 votes against APC’s Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, who polled 99,445.
She added that the commission made efforts to ensure inclusivity, providing braille materials, magnifiers, and sign language interpreters for persons with disabilities, while women and pregnant voters received priority.

However, she highlighted challenges, including the N50 million campaign permit fee imposed by the Anambra Signage and Advertisement Agency, incidents of vote buying, low voter turnout (21.4%), and lingering security risks, including the killing of a councilor in Orumba South LGA.
Despite these issues, Hamman-Obels said the election reflected progress toward credible and transparent polls. She urged Nigerians to stay engaged in democratic processes and called for continued collaboration among INEC, political parties, civil society, and the media to strengthen accountability and protect electoral integrity.
