Andrew hit with fresh disgrace just hours after losing titles and home

Prince Andrew’s royal downfall deepened on Thursday after King Charles III formally stripped him of all titles and privileges, including the Duke of York designation and the style of His Royal Highness (HRH).

Within hours of the announcement, Andrew’s name was also deleted from the Official Roll of the Peerage, the historic public record listing all peers in the United Kingdom. The move effectively ends his public life and royal status, leaving him to be known simply as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the decision, marking the latest blow for the disgraced royal whose friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has long tainted his reputation. Andrew has consistently denied all allegations of sexual misconduct.

The development comes amid growing pressure on the monarchy to resolve questions over Andrew’s Royal Lodge residence, a 30-room mansion in Windsor where he reportedly pays only a symbolic rent. Calls have intensified for him to vacate the property following his removal from royal duties.

Trade Minister Sir Chris Bryant welcomed the King’s action, saying:

> “I warmly support what the King is doing today. The vast majority of people will see this as the right decision.”

Bryant added that Andrew, now “an ordinary member of the public,” should cooperate with US authorities if called upon to answer questions related to Epstein’s crimes.

The removal of Andrew’s titles — and his erasure from the peerage — underscores King Charles’ determination to safeguard the monarchy’s integrity and distance the royal family from years of scandal.
