ANOTHER MINISTER RESIGNS FROM TINUBU’S GOVERNMENT

The Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, has resigned from the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Sununu stepped down on Monday to pursue a seat in the Senate, with his focus reportedly on the Kebbi South Senatorial District. Sources within the ministry said he submitted his resignation letter to the Presidency earlier in the day, citing the need to concentrate on his political ambitions.

His exit is seen as a notable development in the humanitarian sector, where he played a key role in coordinating social intervention programmes and addressing the needs of displaced persons across the country.

Before his appointment as minister, Sununu represented the Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. His move back toward the National Assembly is viewed as a strategic effort to strengthen his political base in Kebbi State.

Supporters in his constituency have already begun mobilising, expressing confidence that his experience at the federal level would translate into greater representation and development if elected.

As of now, the Presidency has not announced a replacement or indicated who will oversee the ministry in the interim.

His resignation comes amid a broader trend of political officeholders repositioning themselves ahead of upcoming elections.
