APC Confident of Victory in Anambra Governorship Election — Yilwatda

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed strong confidence in its chances of winning the upcoming November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election, saying the party is set to produce the 26th governor under its platform.

The party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, made the declaration during the APC’s national campaign rally in Onitsha, where he presented the party’s flag and symbol — the broom — to its governorship candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, and running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife.

Describing the APC as a “messenger of hope,” Yilwatda expressed optimism that the party would end the reign of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state.

“We have only 196 hours for APGA to end its reign in Anambra. In eight days, there will be no governor in Nigeria that bears the name APGA,” he said.

He lamented the state’s deteriorating infrastructure and rising unemployment, noting that Anambra had lost its commercial edge under the current administration.

“The roads and schools need fixing, and under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative, the economy has improved. Anambra will fare even better under an APC-led government,” Yilwatda added.

Also speaking, Senate President Godswill Akpabio urged Anambra voters to align with the ruling party, declaring that “Anambra will no longer walk alone.”

“My message today is simple: you shall not walk alone. Ndigbo will now be at the center,” Akpabio said, adding that the South-East Development Commission would empower the region and foster growth.

On behalf of the APC Governors’ Forum, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma commended supporters for their peaceful conduct despite the rainfall during the rally.

“APC is not known for violence. As you campaign, shun violence and allow INEC to conduct a free and fair election. Your votes will count, and security agencies will protect you,” Uzodimma assured.

Earlier, the APC delegation had visited the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, who offered blessings to the party’s candidates before the rally commenced.
