The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a revision to its 2026 activity calendar, extending the ongoing membership e-registration exercise until February 8, 2026, while excluding Rivers, Osun, Ekiti states, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from its upcoming party congresses.
APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, briefed journalists in Abuja on Friday, adding that the National Convention, initially slated for March 17, will now be held on March 27 and 28.
Last year, the party released a comprehensive timetable for its 2025/2026 ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses, culminating in the National Convention. The membership e-registration exercise was originally scheduled from December 1, 2025, to January 30, 2026.

Morka explained that the 183rd National Working Committee (NWC) approved the extension to give more members the opportunity to register and help the party achieve its 12 million membership target.
He also clarified the reasons for the exclusions from the upcoming congresses. Rivers State held off-cycle congresses last year, so its executives are still serving their tenure. Meanwhile, Osun, Ekiti, and FCT are exempted because of upcoming governorship and council elections, which must take place first.
Speaking alongside National Secretary Ajibola Basiru and other NWC members, Morka said:
“The NWC resolved to extend the e-registration exercise from January 31 to February 8, 2026. The party congresses will now be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, and the National Convention is rescheduled for March 27–28, 2026. Exceptions include Osun, Ekiti, FCT, and Rivers States.”

He encouraged members to continue mobilising unregistered supporters to take full advantage of the extension.
Morka also noted that the Coordinating Committee for the National Convention has been approved by the NWC, with details of its members and chairmanship expected to be published on Monday, along with any adjustments to the congress schedule.
Regarding the excluded states, he explained:
“Osun, Ekiti, and FCT are awaiting upcoming elections, while Rivers State conducted off-cycle congresses last year. The tenure of those executives is still active, so new congresses will be scheduled later.”

On the extension of the e-registration exercise, Morka added that the move was not due to low participation but to accommodate more members.
National Secretary Basiru confirmed the success of the exercise, saying:
“We have already surpassed seven million registered members and, by February 8, we expect to exceed 12.5 million. This e-registration is part of APC’s broader digital transformation, including online applications for upcoming congresses, which is a first for any political party in Nigeria.”
He further explained the two essential requirements for registration: name and Voter Identification Number (VIN). Basiru noted that these are crucial for financial inclusivity, enabling members to access government and international interventions and to demonstrate their support through active voter registration.

“Membership is tied to voter registration. The ability to vote is the most effective way to support your party, and these two requirements ensure that compliance is maintained,” he said.
