ARMY BURIES SOLDIERS MURDERED BY TERRORISTS

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI have laid to rest soldiers who lost their lives during a recent encounter with Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.

The burial took place at the Maimalari Military Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri over the weekend in a solemn ceremony attended by senior military officers, government officials, and the families of the fallen soldiers.

In a statement, Operation HADIN KAI spokesman, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, said the Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, described the occasion as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices soldiers make in service of the nation.

“In the profession of arms, there are moments of pride in victory, but also moments that weigh heavily on our hearts, reminding us of the true cost of service,” Major General Abubakar said.

He praised the fallen soldiers for their courage, selflessness, and unwavering dedication, noting that their loss was felt not only by their families but also by the Nigerian Army, the Armed Forces, and the nation at large. “They gave their lives for a cause greater than themselves—the nation, the people, and the ideals they swore to defend. Their bravery and loyalty will never be forgotten,” he added.

Major General Abubakar also assured that all entitlements due to the deceased personnel would be processed promptly to support their families. He extended condolences on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

Representing Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, the Executive Secretary of the Borno State Security Trust Fund, Alhaji Mustapha Ali Yabe, expressed the state government’s condolences and pledged continued support for the families of the fallen soldiers and the military in carrying out their constitutional duties.

The ceremony brought together top government officials from Borno State, senior officers from the Headquarters Theatre Command and 7 Division Nigerian Army, the Commander of 25 Task Force Brigade, the Chairman of Damboa Local Government Area, as well as family members and next of kin of the deceased.
