The Police Service Commission (PSC) has with immediate effect ordered the removaly of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Lanre Ishola, following the role of the command in the ongoing crisis surrounding the Speakership tussle at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
In a press statement e-signed released to Societal Concerns Media Network by the Commission’s Spokesperson, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, it was announced that the PSC has approved the appointment of CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh as the new Commissioner of Police for Lagos State.
The statement reads: “The Police Service Commission today, Monday, 17th February 2025, approved the appointment of Olohundare Moshood Jimoh as the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command.”
CP Jimoh, prior to his appointment, served as the Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority, Eastern Ports. His extensive career in the Nigeria Police Force includes previous roles as Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner at Airport Police, Deputy Commissioner for Finance and Administration, and Deputy Commissioner for General Investigation.
A native of Kwara State, CP Jimoh has undergone numerous professional trainings, including:
– Combat Operations Course at the Mobile Training College, Maiduguri.
– African Union Mission in Darfur, Sudan.
– Weapons of Mass Destruction Countermeasure First Responder Training Institute, United States.
– Training on Social Construction and Management Reform at China Executive Leadership Academy, Pudong, China.
– Training on Maritime Rescue and Salvage for Developing Countries at China Maritime Academy, Ningbo, China.
– Training on Anti-Hijacking Techniques and Tactics for Developing Countries at Yunnan Police College, Kunming, China.
– Police Training Institute, Seoul, South Korea.
CP Jimoh is also a recipient of the prestigious Presidential Award for Public Relations Personality of the Year, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to public relations, as awarded by the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations.
The newly appointed Commissioner of Police appeared before the Commission on Monday, where he was officially confirmed in the presence of the Commission’s Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd.), mni; Justice Adamu Paul Galmuje, retired Justice of the Supreme Court and Honourable Commissioner representing the Judiciary; and DIG Taiwo Lakanu, fdc, Honourable Commissioner representing the Police.
The appointment of CP Jimoh signals a strategic move by the PSC to restore stability and uphold law and order amid the political turmoil at the Lagos State House of Assembly. The new Commissioner is expected to bring his wealth of experience in law enforcement and crisis management to bear in ensuring peace and security in the state.
