Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and former Senate President David Mark joined other prominent figures at the church wedding of Dr. Chikamkpa Amaechi, son of former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, in Abuja on Saturday. The guest list also included former First Lady Patience Jonathan, Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and former Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong.
Rev. Fr. Steve Dedua, who officiated the solemnization of Chikamkpa and Anita Nwabueze, called on the couple to build their marriage on patience and faith in God. “God created them male and female to become one. What God has united, let no one divide,” he said, referencing the sacred nature of marriage. Noting Nigeria’s 11th-place ranking in global divorce rates from a 2023 study, he urged the couple to model a God-centered union.
Speaking at the reception, Governor Otti emphasized the importance of open communication and resolving conflicts peacefully, advising the couple to address issues promptly to maintain harmony.
The event followed the couple’s traditional marriage ceremony, which took place in Abuja the previous week.
