Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, has publicly rejected a condolence message sent by Uba Sani following the death of his grandmother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.
Governor Sani had earlier extended his sympathies to the family, describing the late matriarch as a woman of strong values, humility, and compassion. He praised her life of service and prayed for her eternal rest, while asking God to grant the family strength in their time of grief.
However, Bashir dismissed the gesture in a brief and blunt response posted online. Writing in Hausa, he said, “Bama so,” which translates to “we don’t want.”
Meanwhile, Nasir El-Rufai is currently in detention after being arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission on a 10-count charge related to alleged money laundering and conversion of public funds.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the case has been adjourned, with a ruling on his bail application expected soon.
