In a brazen attack on Kujama, the headquarters of Chikun Local Government Area in Kaduna State, bandits kidnapped 12 people and left one dead. The assault targeted Nasara Nursing and Maternity Home and nearby residences in the early hours of Tuesday. A body, believed to be one of the abducted victims, was found along the attackers’ escape route.
A local trader confirmed that while the number of missing individuals could be higher, 12 abductions have been verified, including a medical doctor, a security guard, and several patients from the hospital. The gunmen also stormed homes, abducting five additional residents, including three housewives, a young girl, and an adult male. A Nigeria Correctional Service security officer, shot in both legs after refusing to comply with the kidnappers, was left in critical condition.
Families of the victims gathered anxiously around the hospital, awaiting communication from the abductors. The attack highlights the ongoing insecurity in the region, with no official response reported at the time of filing.
