Bandits terrorizing Kaduna State carried out another attack on Thursday night, killing one person and injuring several others.
The incident occurred in the Ikara Local Government Area when the assailants blocked Pala-Sayasaya Road, the same location targeted by bandits the previous day.
A resident confirmed the killing and said the sporadic gunfire caused widespread panic. Some passersby on motorcycles were also abducted and taken into the forest.
Another source reported that over ten motorcycles were seized at gunpoint during the ambush in the area.
“Many of those injured were rushed to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) Zaria and Ikara General Hospital,” the source added.
Earlier this week, six farmers were kidnapped while working on their farm in Layin Danauta village, Kuyello Ward, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area. Only six have been identified so far, but the number could be higher.
Last Friday, several traders were also abducted in Birnin Gwari while traveling to the weekly Layin Danauta market in a golf car. The bandits intercepted the vehicle at Kwanan Danwandara in Tabani Ward, taking all occupants, including the driver, into the forest. Two more individuals on a motorcycle were kidnapped in the same area.
Bandits in Kaduna State continue to carry out attacks with apparent impunity, causing fear and insecurity across affected communities.
