Bandits Kidnap Imam, Two Councillors in Zamfara, Confiscate Police Phones

In a bold attack in Tsauni, Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, bandits kidnapped two councillors from Gidan Goga and Tsibiri wards in Maradun Local Government Area, along with an Imam. The abduction occurred on Wednesday near a police outpost, shortly after Maghrib prayers.

Maradun LGA Chairman, Hon. Sanusi Gama Giwa, confirmed the incident, noting that the bandits seized phones from police officers without resistance and caused no physical harm. Initially targeting an individual from Kaura village, the bandits abducted six men after failing to find their target. They later released three, continuing with the councillors and the Imam.

Tsauni, previously a refuge for those displaced by banditry, highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region. The Zamfara State Police Command, through spokesperson DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the incident and said a rescue operation is underway. He urged residents to provide information to help combat the criminals.
