BANDITS RELEASE REMAINING OLLE-BUNU KIDNAP VICTIMS IN KOGI AFTER COLLECTING MOTORCYCLES AS FINAL RANSOM

The last three residents of Olle-Bunu community, who were abducted in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, have been released by bandits.

The victims regained their freedom on Saturday, January 31, 2026, after the kidnappers reportedly received three motorcycles as an additional ransom.

The release was confirmed by a local community platform, Egbe Mekun Parrot, which noted that negotiations with the abductors had extended over several days before the final demands were met.

Earlier reports indicated that some of the kidnapped individuals had already been freed, but the remaining three were held back as the kidnappers insisted on further payments, despite prior ransoms allegedly made by the victims’ families and community members.

Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area has faced increasing security challenges in recent times, with residents frequently reporting attacks, kidnappings, and a limited security presence in the largely rural communities.

Previously, SaharaReporters reported that five women abducted from Olle-Bunu were released after the community collectively raised N12 million to meet the ransom demand. The amount was gathered through contributions from families of the victims, community leaders, and other concerned residents.

The latest development concludes the series of abductions, but the incident underscores ongoing concerns about security and the safety of residents in the area.
