Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has appointed his elder brother, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed, as the Emir of the newly established Duguri Emirate. The appointment was formalized on October 24, 2025, at the Duguri palace in Alkaleri Local Government Area, where Secretary to the State Government Aminu Hammayo presented the appointment letter on behalf of the governor.

Hammayo urged the new emir to support state policies for sustainable development. Alhaji Adamu Mohammed expressed gratitude to the governor, pledging loyalty to the Bauchi State government and the Bauchi Emirate Council.

During the same ceremony, Hammayo presented an appointment letter to Alhaji Jibrin D. Hassan as the Emir of Bununu Emirate. He encouraged the new emir to uphold the rule of law, foster peace among diverse tribes, and contribute to the state’s progress. The Emir of Bununu thanked Governor Mohammed and committed to diligent service for the government and people of Bauchi.
