In the last few days social media especially WhatsApp have been awashed with a message claiming that Mark Zuckerberg has purchased WhatsApp so every user must send the said message to BTW 10 & 20 of their friends on WhatsApp & some colour Indication will appear.
What to know:
1. No colour indication of any sort has been found in the WhatsApp icon of the thousands that have proved to be gullible & naive in quickly sending such msgs without proper verification.
2. For us in the ICT world and around it, we have reliably noticed that this is a SCAM, a phishing tech to steal information or hack accounts of unsuspecting users. By forwarding you unwittingly approve & expose all in the group simultaneously.
3. Mark Zuckerberg had since bought over WhatsApp since 2014 for $19billion.
4.Any information on this would be found on major global media outlets such as CNN, BBC etc.
5. Careful analysis of the VN showed that it was the product of TEXT TO SPEECH TOOL. And I’m an active social media user & no warning from hotmail or other reliable platforms has been found as some have claimed.
Please don’t fall for it.

WhatsApp advisory on hoax messages
On its website, WhatsApp advises users that unwanted messages from unauthorized third parties try to “deceive you and prompt you to act in a certain way.”
It lists five signs of hoax messages:
The sender claims to be affiliated with WhatsApp.
The message content includes instructions to forward the message to many people.
The message claims you can avoid punishment, like account suspension, if you forward the message.
The message content includes a reward or gift from WhatsApp or another person.
The message will not specify the exact date or time.
When you receive a scam message, WhatsApp advises that you block the sender, disregard the message and delete it.
