Benue government demolishes Tinubu’s campaign office, other structures (Photos)

The Benue State government has demolished the campaign office of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Makurdi, which also served as the state secretariat of the Ahmed Bola Tinubu Support Group.

According to the group’s Director-General, Dr. Tarnongo Simon, the building had valid approval documents and a Certificate of Occupancy, expressing shock that it was demolished without prior notice. He described the action as “uncalled for” but vowed that the group remained committed to President Tinubu’s vision.

However, the Benue State Government denied any political motive behind the demolition. In a statement by Governor Hyacinth Alia’s Chief Press Secretary, Kula Terso, the government explained that the structure was among several buildings affected by the ongoing dualisation of the Makurdi–Enugu highway.

The statement added that owners of approved buildings had been compensated, while those with illegal structures on government rights of way were notified to vacate. It warned against attempts to politicize the lawful demolition exercise, which forms part of a federal infrastructure project spanning from Makurdi to the Benue–Enugu boundaries.Headline news
