Deadly Ambush on Military Convoy in Northeastern Nigeria

Armed fighters believed to be members of the Islamic State West Africa Province carried out an ambush on a Nigerian military convoy late on Friday, resulting in the deaths of several soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force in the northeastern region of the country.
The attackers, described as highly organised and well equipped, struck the convoy in a planned assault that caused significant loss of life and heightened fear within surrounding communities.
Reports indicated that the insurgents also seized a serving Brigade Commander along with other military personnel in a development considered uncommon in the history of the conflict.
Confirmation of the incident would signal the first time that an extremist group in Nigeria has captured a serving General directly from an active frontline operation.

According to information published by HumAngle, the ambush led to the death of many personnel, and the insurgents seized a Brigade Commander during the same attack.
Despite these claims, the Nigerian Army has not released an official update on the incident or on the status of the officer taken during the assault.

Concerns Raised by Senator Ali Ndume over Rising Attacks

A report published on Friday stated that Senator Ali Ndume of the All Progressives Congress, representing Borno South, criticised the growing rate of terrorist attacks in parts of his constituency and described the worsening situation as troubling and unacceptable.
In a statement released on Thursday, the senator explained that four farmers were violently killed by Boko Haram insurgents while working on their farmlands in Kwam village, located near the Dille community in Askira Uba Local Government Area.
The senator stated that the farmers were attacked during the harvest period, and the incident highlights the fragile security conditions in isolated communities that remain exposed despite prolonged military activity in the area.

The senator emphasised that the killings were not isolated events and noted that attacks had increased across several communities.
He referenced incidents from the previous week, including the burning of a church and other buildings in Pemi, along with another reported invasion of the Shikarkir community in Chibok Local Government Area.
In his remarks, the senator criticised the difficulty security forces face in providing consistent protection for remote areas and stated that the absence of a strong and continuous security presence has enabled insurgents to strike without facing opposition.
