Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has ordered the immediate selection and sponsorship of indigent youths for degree programmes in high-value fields such as Piloting, Aeronautical Engineering, and other aviation-related disciplines.
Zulum gave the directive during a meeting at the Government House in Maiduguri while hosting Mr. Isaac Balami, founder of the Issac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management (IBUAM).
The governor said the programme will focus on bright but financially disadvantaged youths who cannot afford the high cost of aviation training.
He added:
“On our part, the Borno State Government will do everything possible to support this university. I sincerely appreciate the offers you have extended to us for the training of aircraft planners and technicians.”
Zulum also revealed that the Commissioner for Education and the Executive Secretary of the Scholarship Board will work directly with IBUAM to begin selecting qualified candidates.
