The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in 20 out of the 23 local government areas in the Chairmanship and Councillorship elections conducted on Saturday in Rivers State.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which is the ruling party in the state, won only three local government areas, including Opobo-Nkoro LGA, the home council of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, which was claimed by the opposition.
The results were formally declared on Sunday afternoon by the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Dr. Michael Odey, at the commission’s headquarters along Aba Road, Port Harcourt.
