Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has reaffirmed that former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore remains a wanted person.
Jimoh made this known during a security strategy meeting at the command headquarters in Ikeja. According to him, Sowore is being sought for allegedly planning to incite violent protests in Lagos.
The police commissioner revealed that Sowore was invited for questioning but failed to honour the invitation. Despite a letter from his lawyer indicating an intention to appear, Sowore has yet to show up.
Jimoh, citing Section 215 of the Nigerian Constitution, said the law empowers him to maintain peace and order within the state.
> “He never showed up. If you are declared wanted, you are to report to the nearest police station, not call me on the phone,” Jimoh stated.
He therefore instructed all police officers to arrest Sowore wherever he is found and take him to the State Criminal Investigation Department for proper investigation.
