Breaking! Coalition of Confusion: SDP Disowns El- Rufai, Threatens Him.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has officially distanced itself from former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, asserting that he is neither a member of the party nor authorised to speak on its behalf.

This declaration was made on Friday in Kaduna by the North-West Zonal Secretary of the party, Inuwa Idris, during a press briefing.

“It has come to our notice that Malam Nasir El-Rufai has been appearing at various events—including policy dialogues, stakeholder forums, and private strategy sessions—claiming to represent the SDP. Let it be clearly stated: El-Rufai is not authorised, recognised, or mandated by the Social Democratic Party in any capacity,” Idris stated.

He stressed that El-Rufai’s actions were carried out without the knowledge, consent, or approval of the party’s national leadership, including its Acting National Chairman, Dr. Sadiq Umar.

According to Idris, El-Rufai does not appear in the party’s membership database, has never participated in its activities, and has not received any appointment or mandate to represent the SDP at any level.

He reaffirmed the authority of the party’s leadership, including National Secretary Chief Olu Agunloye and the 2023 presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo.

The public and stakeholders were urged to disregard any statements made by El-Rufai in the name of the SDP. Idris also reiterated that the party maintains a transparent system for official representation, and any future engagements must be routed through duly accredited officials whose identities are available upon request.

We are passing a vote of no confidence on Malam Nasir El-Rufai,” Idris declared.

Additionally, Idris called for the immediate suspension of Dr. Umar Ardo, accusing him of promoting a new political movement—ADA—while exploiting the SDP platform. He described this as a desperate and unethical political maneuver.

This is a final warning. Cease all fraudulent activities. Any further impersonation will prompt us to call for a special committee under the authority of the National Executive Committee (NEC) to investigate and publicize all related misconduct,” Idris warned.
