An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court has cleared Miss Comfort Emmanson of all charges relating to alleged unruly conduct and assault on the crew of an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos.
Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami discharged Emmanson on Tuesday after the police formally withdrew the five-count charge filed against her.
The decision came after the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), announced that stakeholders in the aviation sector had reached a resolution following a review of the incident, appeals from concerned individuals, and consideration of the remorse expressed by those involved.
Keyamo confirmed that Ibom Air agreed to drop its complaint against Emmanson, who had been arrested over the August 10 incident.
Emmanson was initially arraigned on Monday and granted bail of ₦500,000 with two sureties in like sum, but was remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Centre after failing to meet the conditions.
At the resumed hearing, prosecution counsel Oluwabunmi Adeitan informed the court of the new developments and formally applied to withdraw the case, a request the court granted, bringing the matter to a close.
