BREAKING: EFCC SEALS MALAMI’S RESIDENCE, HOUSING BUHARI’S DAUGHTER AND THIRD WIFE

BREAKING: EFCC Seals Off Malami’s Home Occupied by Buhari’s Daughter, Third Wife

Operatives of Nigeria’s anti-corruption agencies on Wednesday evening sealed the residence linked to former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), in a move described by sources as a major step in an ongoing high-profile corruption investigation.

Credible sources told PRNigeria that several patrol vehicles belonging to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accompanied by armed operatives, were deployed to the property. The residence is said to be occupied by Nana Hadiza Buhari, Malami’s third wife and a daughter of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The development comes as Malami remains in EFCC custody over investigations related to alleged corruption, money laundering, terrorism financing, and controversies surrounding the handling of recovered Abacha funds. The probe reportedly includes scrutiny of multiple bank accounts and suspicious financial transactions allegedly linked to his time in office.

Malami served as Nigeria’s chief law officer between 2015 and 2023. He married Nana Hadiza Buhari in July 2022 during a private ceremony held at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa Mosque in the final year of the Buhari administration. Nana Hadiza is the former president’s third daughter.

EFCC officials have stated that although Malami was earlier granted administrative bail, the privilege was withdrawn after he allegedly failed to comply with critical bail conditions. According to the commission, he remains legally detained for further questioning and ongoing investigations.

The decision to cordon off Malami’s residence signals a significant escalation in the case, which has continued to generate nationwide attention and renewed debate over the powers, independence, and approach of Nigeria’s anti-corruption agencies—especially in cases involving politically influential individuals.

As at the time of filing this report, no official response had been issued by Malami’s legal representatives or members of the Buhari family. EFCC spokespersons also declined to comment, citing the sensitive nature of the investigation.
