Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State is reported to be preparing to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Sources say the governor has held strategic consultations with political stakeholders across the state and beyond, and a formal announcement of his defection may come in the coming days.
His move would mark a significant blow to the PDP, which has governed Enugu since 1999. Some close confidants attribute his decision to ongoing internal crises within the PDP and perceived marginalisation of the South East in party affairs.
While the governor’s camp admits to recent consultations, his spokesperson insists no final decision has yet been made.
