BREAKING: Federal Government Launches Online Classes For Secondary School Students

The Federal Ministry of Education has introduced the Inspire Live(s) Online Real-Time Classes Initiative, a nationwide digital learning programme designed to give schoolchildren across Nigeria broader access to quality education.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo, described the project as a groundbreaking effort that supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. She said the initiative aims to tackle long-standing issues in the education sector, such as teacher shortages and frequent learning disruptions.

Through live, interactive online lessons, Inspire Live(s) seeks to “democratise access to quality education,” ensuring learners receive the same standard of instruction regardless of where they live.

Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, confirmed that full implementation is underway and will soon cover all classes from Primary 1 to Senior Secondary 3.

At the moment, the Inspire platform offers classes for Junior and Senior Secondary School students, running Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The lessons are delivered by certified master teachers using Cisco Webex.

Subjects available for JSS students include Mathematics, English Language, Basic Science, ICT, Agricultural Science, Basic Technology, Civic Education, French, Physical Education, Religious Studies, History, and Business Studies.

For SSS students, subjects include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing or Catering Craft, Civic Education, and Automobile Mechanics.

To ensure the programme is adopted nationwide, the ministry has directed all state Commissioners for Education to nominate a State Focal Officer, share programme details with all school principals, and ensure selected schools have essential ICT tools and internet access.

Registration for the programme will be handled strictly by school principals through the approved Inspire support channels. The ministry also noted that Inspire Live(s) is open to both public and private schools across Nigeria.

While the internet continues to offer young Nigerians vast learning opportunities, the Ministry encouraged students to use it responsibly and focus on resources that support their education and personal development.Headline news
