#BREAKING: FG Declares Thursday Public Holiday to Mark 2025 Democracy Day

The Federal Government has declared Thursday, June 12, 2025, as a public holiday in celebration of this year’s Democracy Day.

This announcement was made in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.

According to the statement, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulated Nigerians on sustaining 26 years of uninterrupted democratic governance.

“June 12 represents our historic journey toward building a nation where truth, justice, peace, and hope thrive,” the minister said.

He described the past 26 years as a testament to the resilience, strength, and courage of the Nigerian people, adding that the hope for a better future remains stronger than ever.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo reaffirmed the Tinubu administration’s commitment to upholding democratic principles anchored on the freely expressed will of the people in shaping the nation’s political, economic, social, and cultural direction.
