Lt. A.M. Yarima, the navy officer who recently clashed with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in a viral video, has reportedly survived an assassination attempt.

According to Vanguard, military sources said Yarima was trailed on Sunday evening by unidentified men dressed in black and riding in two unmarked Hilux vans. The vehicles allegedly followed him from the NIPCO Filling Station along the Line Expressway to Gado Nasco Way.
Realising he was being followed, Yarima reportedly carried out a “strategic maneuver” and managed to evade the suspected attackers around 6:30 p.m. The incident is now under investigation, with the military keeping further details confidential.

The development comes days after Yarima’s heated confrontation with Wike over a disputed plot of land in Gaduwa, which sparked widespread reactions online and within military circles.
Retired officers, under the Coalition of Retired Veterans, condemned Wike’s conduct. Their spokesman, Abiodun Durowaiye-Herberts, warned that veterans would “occupy” the minister’s office if Yarima faced any punishment, insisting that military personnel serve Nigeria—not individual officials. He also demanded that Wike apologise for allegedly insulting the officer during the confrontation.
