Several people are feared kidnapped after bandits carried out a new attack along the Isanlu Makutu–Idofin corridor in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers struck suddenly on Saturday afternoon, forcing people in the area to run for safety.
The exact number of those abducted has not been confirmed, as details are still emerging.
Local sources reported that the incident has increased tension across nearby communities, with many residents remaining indoors and travellers diverting their routes to avoid the unsafe area.
Security agencies have been alerted, and operatives were reportedly mobilising to the scene at the time this report was filed.
The attack comes just twenty-four hours after twenty-one passengers, including women and a nine-day-old infant, were rescued following coordinated assaults on multiple vehicles along major highways in Kogi State.
Two security personnel — a soldier and a vigilante — were confirmed dead during the intense gun battle that followed the earlier attack.
