Military intelligence arrests NDDC Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbuku over claims he funneled funds to ex-Petroleum Minister Timipre Sylva to bankroll a failed coup against President Bola Tinubu.
Investigators are probing whether the transfer was meant to finance efforts to oust the president. A source told reporters:
“The MD sent a huge sum to Sylva. We’re examining if it was tied to the coup plot. He’s currently being questioned on the purpose of the funds.”
The probe has also implicated 16 military officers in secret meetings to overthrow Tinubu and other top officials, according to reports.
The military has yet to issue an official statement on Ogbuku’s detention. Security agencies are intensifying efforts to identify all involved and safeguard national stability.
