The Nigerian Army has confirmed the arrest of the terrorists behind the attack on the St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State.
This was confirmed by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, during a parley with media executives at the Defence Headquarters, on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, in Abuja.
According to him, the criminals were arrested in collaboration with other security agencies.
Recall, about 40 persons were killed in the attack with 70 others injured in the attack carried out on June 5 at St Francis Catholic Church, Owo.
On June 10, 2022, it was reported that operatives of Amotekun in Ondo state arrested the masterminds of the Owo massacre, but the report was debunked by the Ondo State Police Command and Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye.
Meanwhile, the National security Council had earlier claimed that the Islamic State, West African Province (ISWAP) was responsible for the attack.
It was also stated that the attack has no ethnic-religious connection, and was added that the group’s activity has nothing to do with religion.
