The National Judicial Council has recommended fourteen candidates to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointment as judges of the Federal High Court, following the conclusion of its internal screening and assessment process.

The decision was reached at a meeting of the Council presided over by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun. At the meeting, members reviewed the performance, integrity, and professional records of candidates shortlisted for elevation to the Federal High Court bench.

Initially, the Council resolved to withhold forwarding the names to the President pending the completion of mandatory security checks on all successful candidates. This step was taken to ensure that only individuals with no adverse security reports would be considered for appointment.
After receiving and reviewing the security reports, which raised no concerns against any of the nominees, the Council proceeded to forward the full list of recommended candidates to the President for final approval and appointment.

The candidates recommended for appointment as judges of the Federal High Court are:
Suleiman, Amida Hassan
Muhammad, Barau Saidu
Igboko, Chinelo Conchita
Onuegbu, Chioma Angela
Galumje, Edingah
Ibrahim, Vera Eneabo
Abubakar, Musa Usman
Salihu, Aisha Yunusa
Ikpeme, Joy Bassey
Shehu, Umaru Adamu
Mohammed, Ibrahim Buba
Eigege-Binjin, Nendelmum Judith
Usoro, Kuyik Uduak
Nwoye, Osinachi Donatus

The recommendation marks another step in strengthening the Federal High Court through the appointment of qualified judicial officers, as the final decision now rests with the President.
