Lagos Workers, Civil Society Groups Protest Worsening Insecurity
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), in partnership with several civil society organisations, staged a protest in Lagos State on Wednesday, highlighting the deteriorating security situation across the country.

Demonstrators marched from Ikeja to the Lagos State Government House, calling attention to what they described as the government’s continuous failure to safeguard lives and property.
Carrying banners and placards, the protesters demanded urgent intervention from the Federal Government to curb killings, kidnappings, and other violent crimes sweeping across Nigeria. Messages on the placards included: “Federal Government: No More Excuses and Rhetorics. End Insecurity Now!” and “Nigeria is Bleeding. Stop the Criminality Now.”
The march also underscored the constitutional responsibility of the government to ensure citizens’ safety, with banners reading: “Security is a Fundamental Human Right.”
The demonstration, led by the NLC and supported by civil society groups, brought together workers, activists, and concerned residents. Marching along major roads in Ikeja toward the governor’s office, participants demanded immediate and effective measures to tackle the ongoing security crisis.
The Lagos protest is part of a broader wave of nationwide demonstrations as public frustration grows over repeated attacks by armed groups and the perceived inability of authorities to contain insecurity.
