Aloy Ejimakor, special counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), collapsed in Kuje Prison, Abuja, on October 25, 2025, just a day after Senior Magistrate Abubakar Umar Sai’id refused to sign his bail bond. Ejimakor, unable to stand or sit upright, is receiving care from nurses at the prison’s clinic, with plans for a possible hospital transfer as his condition worsens.

Ejimakor was arrested on Monday alongside 12 others, including Kanu’s brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, during a #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest. The group was teargassed, beaten, and detained overnight at the notorious SARS “Abattoir” cell before being moved to Kuje Magistrate Court without their lawyer, Maxwell Opara.

The magistrate remanded them, reportedly in collusion with police to keep them detained. On Friday, Ejimakor, human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, and others were granted bail, but the magistrate left without signing the bond, delaying their release.
