BREAKING: PDP Suspends National Secretary Anyanwu, Three Others Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended its National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, along with three other top officials, citing anti-party activities and internal violations. The decision comes in the wake of a court order halting the party’s planned national convention scheduled for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Also suspended are the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN); Deputy Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha; and National Organizing Secretary, Umaru Bature. They have been placed on a one-month suspension and referred to the PDP Disciplinary Committee for further investigation.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Saturday, National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba said the action followed an emergency National Working Committee (NWC) meeting at the party’s Legacy House headquarters. He said the suspension was in line with the party’s constitution.

Sources within the party suggest the suspended officials are close allies of Nyesom Wike and have allegedly distanced themselves from recent party activities, fueling suspicion and internal tensions.Despite the court ruling, the PDP has vowed to appeal the decision and continue preparations for the convention. The legal challenge is believed to stem from ongoing factional disputes within the party.

With these deepening divisions, questions are mounting over the PDP’s ability to remain a formidable opposition heading into the 2027 general elections.
