The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Dr Bernard Doro as the new Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
Dr Doro’s screening on Thursday lasted less than 30 minutes, during which lawmakers commended his experience and leadership capacity before asking him to “take a bow and go.”

A native of Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Doro becomes the third minister from Plateau State in the current administration.
During the session, he pledged to ensure fairness, transparency, and inclusivity in Nigeria’s humanitarian interventions.
“I will create a humanitarian ecosystem that is inclusive, guided by impartiality and independence,” he told the Senate.
President Bola Tinubu had earlier requested his confirmation in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, citing Section 147 (2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
Doro’s nomination follows the elevation of his predecessor, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, as the National Chairman of the APC.

Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga described Doro as a “highly qualified professional” with over 20 years of experience spanning clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, and strategic leadership in Nigeria and the UK.
Born on January 23, 1969, Doro holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA in IT-Driven Business Strategy, and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice.
He is also an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with experience across the UK’s NHS system.
With his confirmation, Dr Doro is expected to be sworn in at the next meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
