Breaking: Terrorists Abduct Several Traders in Kaduna’s Birnin Gwari Community

Terrorists, commonly referred to as bandits, abducted several traders on Friday morning in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The victims were reportedly travelling in a Golf car to the weekly Layin Danauta market when the attackers struck. According to local sources, the bandits ambushed the vehicle at Kwanan Danwandara in Tabani Ward, kidnapping all the occupants, including the driver.

In the same area, two people riding a motorcycle were also abducted and taken into the nearby forest. The incident occurred around 8 a.m., and the exact number of those kidnapped remains unclear, as such vehicles are often overloaded.

The traders were said to be coming from Dandume in Katsina State, while the two motorcycle riders were residents of Kuyello Ward in Birnin Gwari.

This latest attack adds to a growing wave of insecurity in Kaduna State. Just two days earlier, gunmen invaded Rafin Roro village in Kajuru Local Government Area, abducting nine members of a family, including relatives of the village’s traditional ruler, Mallam Adamu Auta, who narrowly escaped.

Similarly, at least seven villagers were kidnapped in Bukkah community, Chikun Local Government Area, following a violent attack marked by heavy gunfire that sent residents fleeing into the bush. Those abducted include Mohammed Rufai, Sagiru Musa, Bala Usman, Aisha’atu Usman, Bilkisu Isiya, Sa’adiya Usman, and Wasila Usman.

Earlier in the week, bandits also invaded Nissi community in Chikun LGA, abducting an Anglican priest, Reverend Edwin Achi, and his wife, Sarah Achi, from their home.

Residents across affected communities continue to lament the growing insecurity, with frequent abductions and cattle rustling largely going unreported.
