Breaking: Tinubu Appoints New Service Chiefs, Rejigs Military Command Structure

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a major overhaul of the Nigerian Armed Forces’ leadership, appointing new Service Chiefs to strengthen national security. General Olufemi Oluyede replaces General Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).

Major-General W. Shaibu is the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke assumes the role of Chief of Air Staff (CAS), and Rear Admiral I. Abbas becomes Chief of Naval Staff (CNS). Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye remains Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI).

Tinubu thanked the outgoing CDS, General Musa, and other departing Service Chiefs for their patriotic service. He urged the new appointees to uphold professionalism, vigilance, and comradeship in their roles. The appointments take effect immediately.
