BREAKING: TINUBU MEETS WITH FUBARA, WIKE AGAIN IN ASO ROCK

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday held a closed-door meeting with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, in a renewed effort to resolve the prolonged political crisis between the two former allies.

The meeting, which took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, was also attended by some political leaders from Rivers State. However, details of the discussions were not disclosed at the time of filing this report.

The engagement comes amid sustained political tension in Rivers State involving key political stakeholders. According to sources cited by The Nation, deliberations focused on critical issues affecting the state, although no official statement was issued after the meeting.

Sources further revealed that after the closed-door talks, Governor Fubara accompanied Minister Wike to his residence in Guzape, Abuja. During the visit, the governor was said to have appealed to the minister and pledged to show respect in their relationship going forward.

It was claimed that Fubara assured Wike that he would no longer act in a manner perceived as disrespectful.

The prolonged rift between the two had earlier resulted in the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, during which Governor Fubara and members of the State House of Assembly vacated their positions for six months before the emergency was lifted.

This latest intervention is not the first time President Tinubu has attempted to broker peace between Wike and Fubara, as previous reconciliation efforts failed to restore lasting calm in the state.
